Day 2: Epcot & Food & Wine Festival

Breakfast & Skyliner Arrival

I only like early mornings at Disney! If I get woke up before 8am at home I end up crankier than Donald Duck.

We started the day with another early start breakfast at Pop Century's food court. Fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and Andy’s guilty gluten muffin (Don't worry, I only smelled it. LOL!) fueled us for a full day at Epcot. It was a nice sunny morning so the Skyliner was up and running. We happily boarded it and started hydrating with bottled water. I was super excited because it was only the second day of the 2025 Food and Wine Festival!

Food & Wine Festival Highlights

  • Adobo Yuca Fries at The Fry Basket – gluten free, sauce wasn't to heavy on the garlic flavor. Overall it was tasty & filling. 4 out of 5 goats - 🐐🐐🐐🐐

  • Liquid-Nitrogen Pumpkin Cheesecake Mousse at Swirled Showcase– super cool to watch them make it plus it was creamy, crunchy candied pecans, and delicious caramel, with just the right amount of pumpkin flavor. Final decision was that it was brain-freeze level delicious! 5 out of 5 goats - 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐

  • World Showcase Hawaii Booth: Slow-roasted pork slider for Andy and for me, a pineapple cheesecake with passion fruit curd and macadamia nuts .(Honestly, the sauce was better than the cheesecake) Sadly, I could only give it a 3 out of 4 goats - 🐐🐐🐐

  • World Showcase Australia Booth: Roasted Lamb Chop with mint pesto and crushed salt and vinegar potato chips – Cooked to perfection *chef's kiss* and the textures mixed with the different flavors made for a FIRE combo! This was my favorite plate of the whole festival. 5 out of 5 goats - 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐

  • Brew-Wing Labs at The Odyssey: Pickle milkshake – This was an epic letdown! I LOVE pickles.... I even named my cat Pickles! So when I say I was sad that I didn't like this milkshake, I mean that I literally cried after 3 sips because it was so nasty. My stomach literally started hurting and I felt ill. I guess I was hoping for something sour but the milkshake ended up being way too sweet. The dill flavor in it was stale and mellow to my taste buds. I mean, HELLO, pickles are supposed to be sour! You sweet pickle eaters are psychotic and you can't be in my I Really Love Pickles Club. And if you can't tell that is a joke then you probably shouldn't stick around, there's more where that came from! Sadly due to the emotional and gastrointestinal damage I received from this abomination, I had to score this a 1 out of 5 goats. - 🐐

A green, pickle flavored milkshake in a mason jar with whipped cream and dill on top. The straw in the milkshake has green and white stripes
This was the biggest disappointment of the Food and Wine Festival for me, the pickle milkshake....fix it Disney, make it sour!

Disney’s Ducks & Behind-the-Scenes Tour

We noticed something new on this visit. We spotted ramps for ducks to cross ponds—a disabled duck was even was using them and it was the cutest thing! Disney even cares for their animals. 💙

We also scheduled a Disney extra that we've never experienced, the Behind the Seeds Tour at The Land. At only $39 per person it was affordable (considering the price of their other "behind the scenes extras"), interactive, and fun. We were able to get close up to many plants you can't see well during the boat ride of The Land, sampled cucumbers grown there, learned plant-growing techniques, and our guide had all of us on the tour cracking up at her jokes. For the money, experience, and laughter, it was totally worth it! I give it a 5 out of 5 goats - 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐

Dinner at Biergarten (Germany Pavilion)

That afternoon around 4pm, the rain came pouring down, but luckily the restaurant let us eat earlier than our 6:45 pm reservation. The storm was pretty bad so much that while the band was playing on the stage, the lights went out for a few seconds! Several rides were also closed in the parks due to no power for a while, a rarity a Disney. When we were making our decision to eat at Biergarten, I was a little scared because this is a buffet. Buffets are a big cross contamination nightmare for those with food allergies. Now I can say, I will be eating here again! After being seated with an allergen menu, the chef came to the table and spoke to me about all my options. She wrote down all the items I decided I wanted to try. She went back to the kitchen and prepared a safe, 100% gluten-free meal for me—no buffet stress. I tried bratwurst, meatballs, chicken, potatoes, green beans, red cabbage, and tapioca rolls. I didn't have a single reaction other than being sleepy due to being so full! What were my favorite bites? Hands down, the meatballs & red cabbage. Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 goats - 🐐🐐🐐🐐

Check back next week for Labor Day Weekend at Disney, Day 3: Magic Kingdom, corn mousse, more injuries, nap spots, chili dogs, and a parade I never thought my sensory overload would be cured by.

Do you have any behind the scenes tours at Disney experiences you want to share? Drop them in the comments! I'm always looking for something new to try.
